What’s' the difference between WACC & Ministry?
The Ministry team has oversight of and is accountable and responsible for the Ministry areas, and buildings ; Wesley Acres Camp Committee ( WACC ) has oversight of and is accountable and responsible for the Trailer Park areas and buildings - For each this includes responsibility for the design, construction operation of the buildings as well as all financial aspects of maintaining these.
Property Funding:
Ministry activities are funded by donations ( tax receipted) , allocation of rental income from trailer park , and user groups, as well as fees for service ( such as running of camps , dining hall income , motel rental etc ).
WACC is funded via Trailer Park lot fees which are set annually and are approximately at 80% of other local trailer parks with similar features. Approximately 25% of the lease fee is set aside to develop and maintain trailer park infrastructure - this is about $150,000 each year.
Expenses for the upkeep of the park are split between the two identities. For example, both user groups & the trailer park use the services of the maintenance staff, therefore any costs associated with “maintenance” are split 50 – 50.
Likewise the office, Aldersgate Lodge and the DMC are also split. The motel, dining hall, high ropes, Hickory Island, Harbour Ridge and the tenting area are completely ministry. These costs do not come out of the WACC budget.
